Card Busters: Play Your Cards Right and Save the World

The New Face of Action Deckbuilding

Card Buster, developed by Vikka Games, delivers a new experience by blending real-time action combat with strategic deckbuilding mechanics in a vibrant post-apocalyptic world. You step into the role of Buster, a teenage hero leading a ragtag resistance against the tyrannical mage Psychic who has enslaved the town of Dusty Creek with his evil mushroom henchmen. Players go to battle enemies in real-time while simultaneously crafting and refining their deck, creating a dynamic gameplay loop where you have to make split second decisions in combat. The mysterious Card Dust serves is a plot point and mechanical foundation, allowing players to craft magical cards that can be combined in unexpected ways to create devastating effects.

What Makes Card Buster Special?

What sets Card Buster apart from traditional roguelikes is its emphasis on card synergies and creative combinations that transform simple abilities into new displays of power. You can take your flamethrower card along with the hurricane card and turn it into a swirling inferno. The roguelike progression system ensures that each defeat becomes a learning experience, with permanent upgrades making runs more tough while the ever changing maze presents fresh challenges.

Currently in open beta after a successful Kickstarter campaign, Card Buster features stylized hand-drawn visuals that bring its quirky world to life, with developer Vikka Games promising continued post-launch support through free updates that will expand the card pool and introduce new strategic possibilities.

The Future of Card Buster

As the game continues development, Vikka Games has outlined plans for:

  1. Expanded card library with new synergies to discover
  2. Additional content updates delivered free post-launch
  3. Console releases alongside the PC version
  4. Community feedback integration from the ongoing beta

You can try Card Buster’s open beta on Steam and experience this unique blend of action and strategy for yourself.
