Valor Mortis is a First-Person Soulslike With A Napoleone Twist

Valor Mortis is a first-person Soulslike by the developing studio One More Level, creators of the acclaimed Ghostrunner. You play as a former soldier of Napoleon's army who must wield supernatural powers and battle terrifying monsters on the battlefield. Can you solve the mystery that threatens the world, or will you succumb to its darkness?

If we are playing as a soldier of war during the Napoleonic Wars, the game will be set somewhere between 1803 and 1815 in Europe. War is already bad enough, but from what we've seen so far, you'll face not only enemy soldiers but also grotesque monsters. The trailer also shows that these troops are turned into these things by a red liquid phial they smash on themselves.

This Metroidvania-inspired game features challenging combat where you can wield what looks like a melee weapon in one hand that you can parry with and a variety of guns on the left that you can shoot or switch with magic.

Valor Mortis is planned to be released sometime in 2026. It will be on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can also wishlist it on Steam. For information and to be a part of their playtests, you can visit their website here.
