Sheep for the Stars Review: A Laughter Filled Platformer

Now here’s something you don’t see every day: rocket-powered sheep? That's right, Sheep for the Stars. This game is a blast of rocket-fueled, sheep-flying chaos. You can either play against the clock, or you can race your friends. Sheep for the Stars has a colorful art style and wacky concept, making it fun for the whole family. There is no story behind the game, which makes it easy to jump in and start playing at any point. Ace High Arcade developed and published Sheep for the Stars on August 6th, 2025. If you can get past the rage-filled moments of falling back to the bottom, then this game can be filled with laughter and good times.

Sheep for the Stars has no narrative to it—you jump in and immediately get the idea of what to do, which is great when you are playing with others. I definitely recommend playing with friends; I played this in multiplayer mode with a friend and had way more fun than playing by myself. Playing solo feels repetitive; if you play with others, it is way more entertaining. The premise is intuitive: you are a sheep with rockets. Your goal? Get to the top in record time. I will say that the time they give you to get to “S” rank is a little hard to achieve; it can be done if you hit every move perfectly. The idea behind this game isn’t unique; however, the purely vertical gain hasn’t been done in other games. Other platformers usually mix between horizontal and vertical challenges. Sheep for the Stars purely focuses on vertical success. The other concept that makes this game stand out is the quirkiness of sheep with rockets. This is something that adds a surface-level humor to the game, keeping it lighthearted and hilarious

The art style of this game is very cartoony. The 2D animation is done well and reminds me of playing something like Super Mario or Yoshi’s Island. I find that it relates in the color palette and platforming aspect. The colors are light and don’t distract from your goal. They do a good job of not blurring the lines between the platforms and background of the map. They made the right call keeping Sheep for the Stars in the vein of bright colors since the game is focused on whimsical fun. The downside to this is the lack of options for the maps. They get very repetitive. They use the same color schemes for different levels and only change the layout of the platforms. I noticed when playing solo that it caused me to get bored easier because of this. That being said, when playing together with someone, I was distracted by the challenge of beating them and laughing along the way.

Overall, Sheep for the Stars is an enjoyable experience. Playing with friends was great; by the end of it I was rolling on the floor with laughter watching us fail repeatedly. The single-player mode is a bit repetitive due to not having any reason to move forward. This is a great game to play with others in the same way that Fall Guys is fun. I wouldn’t put many hours into the game by myself. If I have a group of friends together, I see us playing for hours. With a couple tweaks and some more variety, this game could easily be a ten for multiplayer. In their next update they should fix the issue of getting kicked out of the lobby after finishing the match. They also need to add some sort of reward system to their single-player mode to add a reason to keep playing by yourself. Currently this game is on Steam for $2.99. If you can afford a morning coffee, then I recommend buying the game and blasting your way into a good time.
