Gemporium : Digging Deep

Mine, Refine and Sell

Gemporium is a simplified gem mining game with some management. You are a mole who has inherited a gem shop, along with its crushing debt. You have a limited time to dig deep, mine, and polish the precious gems, all in the hopes you sell enough by the time the piper makes a visit.

The game works by having you go spelunking for gems in the mine right below your shop. You’ll spend most of your day doing what a mole does best: digging and polishing the retrieved gems. You’ll find spots on the walls that indicate where you can find gems before doing a mini-game where you crack the wall. The goal is to free the gem for collection by clicking on the wall, but you better be careful as you can damage the gems! You’re limited in the amount of gems you can carry, but you can spend money to increase your capacity.

Once you’ve secured as many gems as possible, you return to your hub, where there’s a workbench. This is where you turn the gems from chunks of rock into the final product for customers. The polishing works in two stages, and once you select the gem you want to polish, you’ll get a minigame based on timing. It’s the standard skill check method of clicking when the cursor is in the highlighted zone. You’ll do this a few times before you get to where you just need to polish off the remaining dirt. The process simply involves moving the mouse back and forth to make it shine.

There’s a clock in the game that you’ll need to pay attention to, as the store always opens at a set time, and this is the only time you can sell the gems. All you have to do is talk to a customer and select what gem to sell them. Keep an eye on what the customer prefers, though! If you have one they desire, they’ll pay double the asking price. If you try to sell them what they least desire, they’ll only pay half the market price. So it pays off (pun intended) to keep a variety of gems. Once the day is over, you’re able to purchase upgrades; the majority of them have to do with mining faster, carrying capacity, or tools to extract gems with less chance of damage.

The Future of Gemporium

The game is set to release in August 2025, with a free demo currently available on Steam. Keep an eye on the Steam page or their social media pages for the latest updates!
