No, I'm not a Human — Game Overview

Dawn of a New Day

No, I am not a Human puts you in a world where it is dangerous to roam outside due to increased solar radiation. The player wakes up to the news that going outside is deadly during the day due to the increased solar radiation, and at night it’s dangerous due to the “visitors” roaming around. Visitors are entities who disguise themselves as humans, murdering anyone they can.

Your friendly neighbor comes over to talk to you about the situation with the sunlight and how there are now deadly entities roaming during the night. They are referred to as the visitors, and details of them emerge as more days pass. The most important info that the neighbor gives is to not be alone, as the visitors will leave the player alone if there are other humans around. The visitors will try to stay inside the house, so the goal is to survive and only let humans in.

Surviving the Night

During the night cycles, it’s possible to look through the windows to obtain useful knowledge about recent events. The majority of the time will be spent talking to people through the door, deciding to let them in or not. Certain individuals will provide an item or helpful info when allowed to stay in the house. Each character has their own personality, and some are only seeking refuge for the day.

Detective by Day

During the day the news will talk about what is going on, which can include new tests for determining if someone is a visitor, such as checking teeth, eyes, fingernails, etc. Each person is able to be tested multiple times the same day, as long as you have enough stamina. Due to the higher radiation, the player is limited on the amount of stamina they get each day; this does increase the further in the game you progress. Players need to manage their limited stamina well to avoid mistakenly killing humans instead of the visitors. Some humans might display suspicious traits that could falsely flag them as visitors, but these traits have logical explanations. For instance, there is a widow that arrives, and her eyes are red, but it’s not because she’s a visitor; she has actually been crying over her deceased husband. I recommend doing different tests on people to prevent an accidental casualty. If a visitor is able to slip by, it’s not game over yet; you can still discover and kill them. When the number of visitors is greater than the number of humans, they will begin to murder humans until the player is killed.

I enjoyed the demo and will be checking out the game when it releases. The reason I was drawn to this game is that it seemed to be like a horror Papers Please-like game. The art style of the game adds an extra edge of unease to the game’s setting, enhancing the aesthetic. The feature that I liked the most was that there is a randomness to some of the characters. In some playthroughs they were visitors, while in the next one they weren’t. This made replaying the demo more enjoyable since I could experience the different character designs.

The Future

The game is stated to be released in Q3 2025, with a demo available on their Steam page. Keep an eye on their social media for further updates!
