The annual gamescom conference is underway in Cologne, Germany, and as part of Geoff Keighley's "Opening Night Live" presentation, there has been a sea of game updates, trailers, and new announcements. But which new indie games should you keep an eye on? Here are three new games coming out that caught my eye and might catch yours.
Unbeatable
Unbeatable is described as "a rhythm adventure where music is illegal and you do crimes." The gameplay sees you playing as a myriad of unlockable characters where your goal is to hit inputs at the same time as the music. If you've played a rhythm game like Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution, then you get the idea for gameplay. But what really stands out are the visuals and music. It taps into the indie rock scene and harkens back to media of the '90s. Taking a cue from sketchbooks and comics, the style of the game elicits pure vibes that make you not want to leave.
There is currently a demo available on Steam, with the game releasing on November 6th, 2025.
Denshattack!
Ever wanted to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater but as a train? Then Denshattack! might be for you. This stylish trailer was shown off during the pre-show and immediately caught my eye. You play a runaway train who is tricking their way through Japan. With music reminiscent of the Jet Set Radio series, it's priming itself to get the adrenaline flowing quick. With bright colors, fast-paced movement, and a manga aesthetic, it looks like it will be a great time.
Denshattack! is set to release at some point in 2026. You can wishlist it now on Steam.
La Divina Commedia
La Divina Commedia may look like a Souls-like game on the outside, but under the hood it's doing something unexpected. This short snippet shows some promising fast-paced combat and enemy design, and knowing what the developers have planned makes it even more interesting. Developed by Jyamma Games, this experience is closer to a rogue-like or action role-playing game where you will be tasked with completing runs to unlock more of the story. Each dungeon is procedurally generated with unique enemies, loot, and layouts. Fight your way to the end and you get to bathe in your riches. If Souls-like gameplay isn't for you, maybe La Divina Commedia and its approach will be.
The game is still far off, as we do not have a release window. You can wishlist it now on Steam and be notified of future updates.
