Sink Deep into the Abyss

Abyssus follows a team of up to four Brinehunters as they venture into the deepest fathoms of the sea, searching for brine, a rare and powerful substance hidden within ancient underwater ruins. But it’s never that simple. The sunken civilization’s corrupted inhabitants aren’t too keen on explorers looting their domain, turning what should be a salvage mission into a desperate battle for survival.

Four Friends Exploring

This co-op-centered FPS roguelite adventure truly shines when played with up to four people. I’ve seen the term “brinepunk” thrown around to describe it, and honestly, it fits perfectly. The moment I dove in, I was hit with this incredible underwater Bioshock-meets-steampunk vibe that immediately drew me in.

The weapons feel substantial and purposeful. Whether you’re wielding the rifle, shotgun, or revolver, each comes with both primary and secondary fire modes plus extensive modification options. The full release promises even more firepower, including special equipment like grenades and turrets to deploy strategically. And like any proper roguelite, you’ll discover special abilities at the end of each area from Obelisks, letting you infuse elemental magic into your weapons like fire, shadow magic, or even tentacle-based attacks.

The core experience revolves around teamwork. You and your squad must coordinate to survive each level, keeping each other alive while dashing through barrages of projectiles and explosions. What impressed me most was the level design—each new area feels perfectly suited to its underwater setting, creating distinct challenges that require different approaches.

On its release, they will expand weapons, customization, and levels:
