Void Stalker: Reality-Warping Terror in Deep Space

Dropping Off Dangerous Cargo

Void Stalkers delivers a nice blend of sci-fi survival and cosmic horror set in a dystopian future where you must transport cargo and something that might come and eat you. You step into the role of a desperate lottery winner who is lucky enough to become a Void Runner for the WASP corporation. As the pilot of a failing cargo starship called a Void Rig, your job is to transport disturbing reality-warping creatures known as Void Stalkers from one research facility to the next. Sounds easy, right? Well, your ship is falling apart, the creatures aren’t always dormant, and every void jump changes your vessel, creating a constantly evolving survival challenge that tests your adaptability and nerves.

Jumping into action one console at a time

It takes the Five Nights at Freddy approach, where you manage the ship with drones to help around the ship. You must carefully monitor security cameras to spot these disturbances and zap creatures back into stasis before they fully wake. Fail to contain them, and you’ll face the desperate task of luring awakened entities to airlocks and blasting them into space before they reach you. Your ship is always changing, meaning that with every void jump, your vessel’s layout changes, requiring adaptive strategies as you navigate reactor malfunctions, fires, infestations, and biomass outbreaks.

The narrative depth extends beyond survival mechanics, with multiple factions with differing agendas. While WASP claims they’re studying the creatures to create medicines and technology for mankind’s benefit, the Lunar Resistance says that might not be the truth. Players can choose to keep their head down and follow orders, side with the resistance, or simply look out for themselves, creating important choices that affect the story’s direction.

The Future of Void Stalkers

As the game continues development toward its full release, the developer has outlined plans for:

  1. Expanded narrative content with deeper faction storylines and multiple endings
  2. Enhanced ship systems with more tools and mechanics for creature containment
  3. Steam Next Fest demo featuring polished gameplay based on playtest feedback
  4. Community-driven improvements incorporating player suggestions from the current testing phase
