A Hidden Village with a Thirsty Past
Cult of Blood is a survival horror adventure game that, from first looks, is influenced by the 90's style of the genre, like the original Resident Evil series or Silent Hill. You play as a police officer stationed in an isolated place plagued by mysterious disappearances. While out during a routine task in a nearby village, a vicious cult starts to attack him. As he uncovers the dark past and bloody intentions of this cult, what began as a normal day transforms into a desperate battle for survival.
Old School Fun
The game delivers that authentic old-school survival horror feel through its fixed camera angles, familiar tank controls, and scavenging for scarce resources like ammunition, health items, and any other essentials you can come across. Using a combination of firearms and melee weapons, our hero dodges the attacks of human cultists and the monsters they conjure.
It does a fine job with the atmosphere, staying true to its retro inspirations. A tribal-looking cult, a dark mysterious forest, and classic horror imagery all feel deliberately nostalgic, trying to capture that old-school horror feel. The visuals stick to conventions in a way that feels like a love letter to the classics.
Cult of Blood currently has a demo out on Steam that you can try for yourself. While the demo shows promise, it feels rough around the edges and has room for improvement. Dusty Box is a two-person team, and there is no set release date as of now for when it will come out.
